Maximize Bathroom Storage

The bathroom is where you begin and end your day, so why not have it clean and tidy like the rest of your house? We all want bigger and better bathrooms, but if space is limited, try following these bathroom storage ideas to create a more spa-like atmosphere.

Trade in Your Under-the-Sink Cabinet for a Set of Drawers

Installing an under-the-sink cabinet creates a lot of extra storage that will change your life—choose one with a top drawer that goes around the sink to maximize space. If this isn’t in your budget and you are stuck with basic cabinet doors, try adding small hooks to hang lightweight items inside to organize your bathroom a little more.

Make Your Mirror Work Double Duty

A mirror is essential to every bathroom but can also double as extra storage. Installing a medicine cabinet is ideal for small everyday products like band-aids, pain killers and your favourite hair products!

Store What You Use Daily

Storage is limited in every bathroom. Remove all items you don’t use daily, such as cleaning products–move them to a linen closet or under the kitchen sink. Toilet paper, instead of storing the bag in the bathroom, stock 3-4 rolls either on the toilet or in a nearby cabinet.

Use Empty Wall Space

That space over the toilet is often a missed opportunity for storage solutions. On the market today, there are a variety of shelving units that go over the toilet or, for a more luxe vibe, install floating shelves. Doing this should help free up a lot of space under the sink.

Install a Towel Rack on an Empty Wall

While your at it, install a towel rack or shelf on an empty wall. This solution will move your towels off the counter and fold them onto a shelf for easy access or hang them on a bar for repeated use.

Box the Rest Away

If your bathroom is like mine, it’s easy to clutter up the space with all our products. Store similar products in baskets or boxes under the cabinets.

Then, we all have that area of the bathroom where disliked products go, in case we change our minds. Trust me on this; you are never going to change your mind. Throw out rarely or never used products. If they are still needed sometimes, store them in small organized boxes in the back of your cabinets to keep things neat.

Now that you have a few great ideas for maximizing your storage space and how to handle organization in your bathroom—try them out this weekend!
