Wintertime is typically a buyers’ market; there are fewer homes for sale but usually fewer buyers, which means a lot less competition. There is much less chance of bidding wars and driving home prices up. Of course, there are some drawbacks to buying in winter, like slimmer pickings for homes compared to summer, but keep that from deterring you.

Most sellers listing their homes in winter are serious about selling and are usually willing to make a deal. Most people put their houses on the market in winter because they need to.
